Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Balance) with Yoga Wheel Video Tutorial

For all inversions, we recommend starting at a wall until you get more comfortable, which the YogDev wheel can help. For this version of headstand, place the wheel on a sticky mat right up against the wall. Come to hands and knees and hold the base of the wheel so that the wrists and forearms karate chop into the sticky mat. Have the elbows shoulderwide. The head is not on the floor for this pose. Curl the toes under and lift the hips up walking the feet toward your face. Continue to drive the wrists and forearms down. On an inhale lift one leg up straight and strong as you bend the standing leg and then hop. Once you find the wall, bring both legs together and strongly drive the heels into the wall for length. Because the wheel creates a long distance from the wall, the body will back bend, so be sure to use your core and lengthen up toward the ceiling.. To balance, take one leg away from the wall, keeping the arms driving down and then the next. Come down slow one leg at a time and repeat. Forearm balance is an excellent way to build both strength and flexibility in the shoulders.
